Three cheby - 2018
Gridshell is a new structure that is light, flexible, economic, easy to construction and has high strength, all of these elements point to a word “less”, which we can understand it as a high efficient form, however, it is not enough. The objective of this project was to design and build a spherical actively-bent chebyshev net triangular gridshell covered by a stretchable membrane.
Based on strict restrictions of fabrication efficiency, teams of students explore or enhance simple systems that can produce efficient form by efficient means. Through successive and incremental physical model making, the digital model is calibrated.
